Meet Alex Rosier

Nice to meet you

If you’re reading this, hi there! đź‘‹

My name is Alex Rosier.

You’ve reached my personal site, thanks so much for checking it out.

The header says, “Maker on a Mission.”

Honestly, that’s just a glorified way of saying I’m trying to go from a ‘wantrepreneur’ to an entrepreneur — and help others do the same — by documenting the process step-by-step.

And that means being real — sharing the ups, and more importantly, the downs.

If that interests you, keep reading!

Makers find makers

A Story

August 9th, 2009, and I’m sitting in my living room.

I hear a click-clack of dress shoes rattling against the hardwood. Dad’s home, I think to myself.

The door swings open, he grabs the remote and flips the channel.

“Hey!” I squeal (my voice cracking enough to make a saltine jealous).

He smiles and points up at the screen, “Check this out.”

On comes the world premiere of Shark Tank. Tod from Mr. Tod’s Pies steps into the room.

And what I watched next struck me like a bolt of lightning.

The conviction, commitment, and drive from this entrepreneur…

The quick wit, questioning, and cleverness of the investors…

It was like nothing I’d ever seen!

I was hooked.

And the reason hit me: whenever I asked other adults about their work, they seemed to be in a hurry to change the subject.

Like work was some big joke, waste of time, or embarrassment.

But these people were different. They weren’t numb—they were fighting for something.

Their passion roped me in. Not just for the episode, but for years.

I wanted to live like them.

A Realization

As I went off to college, my interest in making your passion your work only grew stronger.

I became fascinated with this one, not-so-small problem:

Half of our time awake on Earth is spent working.

And yet, millions of us settle for careers that we do not like.

This still hits me like a ton of bricks every time I think about it.

Like how does this happen? Why does this happen?

It can’t be because we want that. First, I am damn sure none of us set out to choose work that we hate. Second, this isn’t due to a lack of competence—we all have innate talents and abilities.

So where does it all go wrong?

The story is always similar:

We either gave up on our search to get clear on our dreams.

Or, have dreams, but we let them drown in our fears, bills, responsibilities, and instant gratification somewhere along the way.

And over time, they lose their glimmer, hope, and really—their chances.

Call me idealistic (or even a little nuts…)

But I believe if more people had the courage to seek, tap into, trust, and act upon what they’re meant to do, the world would be a better place.

That you make your greatest contributions and the very most of your life when you do this.

Pursuing what makes us tick makes us happier, better partners, better parents, better teachers, better students—just better.

Because you make the most of the life you have—chasing the things that make you happiest.

I’ll bet some of you just puked a little bit reading that.

Corny? Yeah, for sure.

But still, it felt true. So I decided with complete conviction:

I want to pursue my dreams, no matter what it takes.

Because if I’m going to spend the majority of my awake hours on Earth working, I might as well enjoy it, make it matter, and help others while doing it.

And so my mission became to help people to get clear on what it is they truly want to do and pursue it—no matter what.

One Small Problem

Choosing your dream is easier said than done...

The truth is, I care about this so much because it’s taken me 8+ hard-fought years to figure out what the heck I want to do with my life.

And that’s been really hard.

Between job jumping, building things, experimenting, traveling, researching, informational interviewing, quitting jobs, journaling, meditating, you-name-it…I’ve tried it.

And if you’re like me, you know how horrible it is to be trapped inside your ambitious head and not know exactly where to apply that energy.

Personally, it’s eaten me up inside, but I’m not giving up!

However, I had a breakthrough recently:

I had become so obsessed with choosing the right thing for me, that I spent more time learning than actually taking action.

So, that’s what led to this site…

Get to the point, Junior!

Learn by DOING

This really isn’t about me; it’s about US.

If you’re still reading this, you probably have big dreams but are stuck. And it’s time for us to make a change.

This mission is about being PROACTIVE in your search for figuring out what you want to do.

Even though it’s scary, even though it’s hard, it’s super necessary.

So I’m shooting to flip my world around and start taking action.

I’ll be tackling projects head-on that scare me—and document the transition and process—in case your in a similar position to me and want some guidance.

Why do this?

Because most content creators ignore the ‘how’ they built something. And it leaves us in the dark.

They make it seem so easy—like it just happened. I don’t know about you but I always hated that. It me feel discouraged—like I wasn’t cut out for it.

I call BS.

In conclusion, you can do this, you just need a push. Like me.

My next project

Therefore, for my next project, I’m going to go big:

Trade a single piece of ocean plastic until we raise $1 Million to fight climate change—and document the whole thing on Tik Tok.

You can follow along with that here. For a behind-the-scenes look, go to my YouTube channel.
